A Day In The Life

Job Title: Customer Service Type of Company: A bridal and prom shoe distributor. Education: high school education Previous Experience: I worked in a cleaning company for over 10 years and the switched to customer service. Job Tasks: To help customers with our products and be 100% customer friendly; to know our merchandise and help customers with their purchases and to recommend alternatives when things are not in stock; to make sure as soon as the order is processed that the shipping department is packing it to ship that same day: these are my responsibilities. I try to make sure that customers receive their goods on time and that every piece of every items is intact. I also have to make sure that everything in the office is working accurately: our phone system, computer, web-site. Best and Worst Parts of the Job: My boss is the nicest guy in the world. I love to work for him. The department that I work in is really great. We work really well together. It's great we don't have a dress code. Besides we are in a order department where we do not have to meet and greet people. Dealing with another department is hard at times and getting things done or fixed can take a lot of effort. Job Tips: It may be painful dealing with nasty customers and consumers, but think of it this way: you don't have to actually face them. You're dealing with them over the phone. Put them on hold, take a minute to cool off and then proceed. Because it's all about keeping the customer happy. Additional Thoughts: Important qualities for success in my job is to see that I did a good job at the end of the day. People think customer service is an easy job but that's not so. I want my boss to see that I'm doing my job on my best ability. The surprise with my occupation is I'm pretty calm on dealing with aggravating, confused, swearing at times customers and consumers. Over all, though, most of them are real nice.
